We are seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team and provide support to individuals struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders.
This position has the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling, developing treatment plans, and monitoring progress.

New U Therapy Center & Family Services is launching an IOP/PHP substance abuse disorder/co-occurring disorders program facility in Valencia and Westlake Village, CA.
We are a rapidly expanding mental health clinic with a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatry, psychotherapy with specialization in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy now offering Intensive Outpatient Programs.

Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to clients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Develop treatment plans and provide referrals to appropriate services.
Conduct assessments of clients to identify their needs and goals.
Provide education on the risks of substance abuse and the benefits of recovery.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Maintain accurate records of client progress and treatment plans.
Provide crisis intervention when needed.
Adhere to CARF and DHCS requirements and Standards
Qualifications:
Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Bilingual abilities are desirable but not required.
Must have a minimum of an Associates and Bachelors-level preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in substance abuse disorder treatment.
Must possess certification in the field of Substance Use Disorder Counselor (CADC I, CADC II, CADC III, LAADC or equivalent).
Ability to read and understand the English language.
Quickly and accurately documents daily activities in the electronic medical records system.
Must be able to read and follow directions and policies.
Able to stand, stoop, bend squat and reach for the purpose of performing job duties such as handling materials stocked on shelves, filing, and lifting.
Routinely lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five pounds; are expected to ask for assistance and use a dolly or cart for any heavy items.
Proficient in crisis intervention and management, knowledge of behavior management techniques and verbal de-escalation processes Must have experience with basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation.
Must understand the inner workings of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and CFR 42 part 2 Scheduling, Coordination of Care, Case Management, and Administrative duties as assigned Able to stand and walk most of the working day and to physically perform other job duties.
Duties may require occasional use of a stool or small ladder.
