As the head of Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain, your pivotal responsibility is to guarantee the smooth and efficient procurement and management of essential production materials, packaging, and other supplies.
Your main goal is to devise and implement strategic sourcing plans, emphasizing cost reduction, quality maintenance, and overall optimization of the supply chain.
Close collaboration with diverse teams such as procurement, production, quality assurance, and logistics will be imperative to ensure seamless material flow and accomplish the company's strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing:
Create and execute an all-encompassing strategic sourcing plan for food manufacturing operations, taking into account factors like quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability.
Discover and assess potential suppliers, engage in contract negotiations, and establish valuable partnerships to secure a consistent and dependable supply of raw materials, packaging, and other necessary resources.
Stay abreast of market trends, conduct supplier evaluations, and remain updated on industry best practices to identify fresh sourcing prospects and drive continuous enhancements.
Oversee supplier selection procedures, which include RFIs, RFPs, and supplier evaluations, to ensure the choice of suppliers that align with quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Nurture robust partnerships with suppliers, establishing transparent channels of communication and efficient problem-solving to reduce interruptions in the supply chain.
Regularly assess supplier performance, monitor important metrics, and offer constructive feedback to encourage supplier enhancement and maintain steady product quality and availability.
Work together with suppliers to foster creativity, identify cost-saving prospects, and implement sustainability initiatives in line with the company's goals.
Take charge of contract negotiations, oversee supplier contracts, and guarantee adherence to agreed-upon terms and conditions.
Supply Chain Management:
Manage the entire supply chain process, spanning demand planning, inventory management, production scheduling, and distribution, with a strong focus on upholding food safety and quality standards.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to devise and execute supply chain enhancement strategies, including lead time reduction, inventory level optimization, and streamlined logistics operations.
Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators of the supply chain, such as on-time delivery, fill rates, and production efficiency, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies pertaining to food safety, quality, and traceability across the entire supply chain.
Risk Management:
Create and execute strategies to mitigate risks, reducing the impact of supply chain disruptions and maintaining uninterrupted business operations.
Monitor and control risks associated with supply chain, including demand fluctuations, geopolitical influences, regulatory shifts, and other external factors.
Formulate comprehensive backup plans and explore alternative sourcing approaches to effectively tackle potential risks and vulnerabilities.
Team Leadership:
Take charge of, train, and enhance an exceptional group of sourcing and supply chain experts.
Offer direction, assistance, and guidance to team members, nurturing an environment that values ongoing learning and career advancement.
Establish well-defined performance targets and objectives, regularly assess performance, and cultivate a cooperative atmosphere for work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
A Master's degree is preferred.
A proven track record of over 8 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management within the food manufacturing sector, ideally in a leadership capacity.
Extensive knowledge of food sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract negotiation, and best practices in supply chain management.
Comprehensive understanding of food safety and quality requirements, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling the analysis of intricate data and the ability to make informed decisions.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a history of leading and developing high-performing teams.
Proficiency in utilizing supply chain management software and systems specifically designed for the food manufacturing industry.
