Customer Quality Engineer

Position Purpose:
This position reports directly to the quality leader and is responsible for providing a moderate to high level of customer support and mentoring to the other quality engineers. This position requires minimal supervision with a high level of independent work. Drives the use of Six Sigma principles, methods and tools.
Essential Functions:
Acts as the customer advocate within Woodward processes and systems.
Acts as the customer liaison for Woodward compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction relative to quality of products and services.
Accountable for key foundational customer accounts, along with resolving complex issues.
Drives resolution to systemic issues within the organization.
Responsible for monitoring and tracking customer quality data.
Accountable for ensuring the robustness of root cause analysis and problem solving utilizing Six Sigma methodology and Woodward Quality Management System processes.
Monitors and drives improvements to customer quality metrics throughout Woodward.
Ensures adequacy of documents and interfaces with customer for required validation documentation to customer quality requirements such as MPP, PQP, PPAP, ISIR, etc.
Leads and follows up on internal and external quality audits as required.
Monitors and reports on customer score cards.
Leads action, as appropriate.
Other Functions:
May participate in setting technical direction/quality strategies.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements. Site Specific.
Working Environment / Physical Activities:
Some domestic and/or international travel, as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Communicates and operates effectively within Woodward's organizational structure.

Expert knowledge and the utilization of Six Sigma principals, tools and methodology.
Advocates Six Sigma principals throughout the organization.
Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations.
Writes and presentscritical technical reports to peers, upper management and customers.
Demonstrates a high degree of competencyto capture important data, analyze data and report appropriate conclusions; able to identify and address the critical few from the trivial many.
Drives action to address conclusions.
Demonstrates thoroughunderstandingof interpretation ofengineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerencing (GD&T).
Expert understanding of quality management systems and tools related to ISO9001, AS9100, TS16949, and/or QS9000 requirements and intent.
Able to analyze systems and processes against those requirements, identify gaps, and drive corrective action.
Expert understanding of the Woodward PLC process and demonstrated utilization of the quality planning tools.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead large cross-functional teams.
Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Mentor other CQE's in task prioritization.
Solid interpersonal skills and effectively work with various levels within the organization, with customeror at regulatory agencies.
Ability to drive and implement activities to meet customer quality expectations.
Ability to identify and execute quality/customer focus strategy for key foundation customer accounts.
Build strong relationships at various levels/functions within the customer.
Ability to gain the trust and respect of the customer, viewing quality role as an extension of their organization.
Education or Formal Training:
Bachelor's degree in technical field required.
Nationally recognized qualilty certification is required (e.g. American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE) certification.
Must be Green Belt or Black Belt certifed
Experience Required:
Minimum 5 years of quality related experience.
